Electric Co-op support for Indiana festivals, tourism enters fifth decade
With the arrival of the 2013 edition of the Indiana Festival Guide, Hoosier Energy and its member cooperatives are entering their fifth decade of support for Indiana tourism by promoting local events.
Copies of this popular and comprehensive tourism publication are now available free of charge from your electric cooperative.
It was 1972 when Hoosier Energy published the first Southern Indiana Calendar of events, which listed 41 festivals. In the decades that followed, Hoosier Energy and its member cooperatives teamed up with the Indiana Department of Tourism and in recent years the Indiana State Festival Association to sponsor the more comprehensive annual Indiana Festival Guide.
The 2013 edition of the Festival Guide features 84 pages of listings of nearly 500 festivals, craft fairs, holiday shows, historical re-enactments and community celebrations held throughout the year in Indiana.
Tourism generates more than $10 billion in annual spending in Indiana as well as supporting nearly 300,000 jobs.
Whether you're looking for a winter weekend getaway for two or a Fourth of July celebration fit for the whole family, the one place you can find them both – and everything in between – is in the 2013 Indiana Festival Guide.
The Hoosier Energy power network is pleased to help highlight the best and most exciting events Indiana has to offer. Indiana's Touchstone Energy cooperatives are committed to the communities they serve.
