Waterfowl Hunting Dates For Turtle Creek Reservoir

The winter hunting schedule has been established for the 1,550-acre reservoir owned by Hoosier Energy. Preference for sites will be given to parties of two and three with remaining blinds available for individual hunters.

Turtle Creek Reservoir will be closed for fishing during periods of waterfowl hunting which coincide with dates set by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

Hunting is scheduled on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from one-half hour before sunrise until noon.

Duck season: Nov. 1-9. Nov. 29, 2014 to Jan. 18, 2015.

Goose season: Nov. 1-9, 2014, Nov. 29 to Jan. 31, 2015. Selection of locations will be held at 6:00 a.m. each hunting day.

Hunting: Nov. 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 29, 30. Dec. 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 23, 25, 27, 28, 30. Jan. 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 13, 15, 17, 18, 20, 22, 24, 25, 27, 29, 31.

Due to the changing of dates and seasons, fishermen need to study the dates available for fishing. The reservoir will close for fishing at 10:00 p.m. on Oct. 31 and will reopen for fishing at 6:00 a.m. on Nov. 10 and will be open until 10 p.m.

Fishing is then allowed for the entire lake.

The lake will close for fishing at 10:00 p.m. on Nov. 28 and reopen on Feb. 16 with the entire lake open.

The extended goose season is from Feb. 1-15, 2015. Hunting will be for the entire lake. Hunting is scheduled one-half hour before sunrise to sunset. Selection of locations will be at 6:30 a.m.

For the general public: The extended goose season is from Feb. 1-15, 2015. Hunting will take place on Feb. 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 15, Days are Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday with the entire lake available for hunting.

On the off days of Monday, Wednesday and Friday, plant personnel may hunt the agricultural areas located on the plant site, as long as they maintain 100 yards from the lakes edge because fishing is allowed on the lake during those days.

Fishing will resume for the entire lake on Feb. 16, 2015.
