Clark County REMC, Hoosier Energy named Economic Development Partner of the Year by One Southern Indiana

Clark County REMC and its power supplier Hoosier Energy have been named Economic Development Partner of the Year by One Southern Indiana, the combined Economic Development Council and Chamber of Commerce for Clark and Floyd counties.

The award was presented at One Southern Indiana's annual meeting held February 17 in New Albany.

The electric cooperatives were recognized for going above and beyond to help southern Indiana reach new heights in economic development.

Along with Clark County REMC and its 17 other electric cooperative members, Hoosier Energy works as a partner with local groups in economic development efforts for 48 Indiana counties as well as 11 southeastern Illinois counties.

At www.HoosierSites.com, Hoosier Energy and members maintain a database of economic development sites, information and tools including online estimators for tax abatement and workers compensation. As well, the electric cooperatives sponsor development scholarships, seminars and other education opportunities for local economic development organizations, public officials and commercial and industrial business representatives.

One Southern Indiana Chief Executive Officer Jody Wassmer presented the award to Clark County REMC and Hoosier Energy. He called the cooperatives unsurpassed partners whose support has helped southern Indiana's economic development program remain current, relevant and competitive.

"By leading the way in developing and making available innovative economic development tools, this year's recipient has given One Southern Indiana an edge in economic development," Wassmer said.
